Padangbai at Glance: a Small, Quite, and Peaceful Sandy Secret Beach

Since it is the most popular tourism destination in Indonesia, it offers richer and wider number of vacation spots that extremely beautiful and reachable. As Bali is quite small, so that moving from one place to other places will not require much time. Every corner in Bali provides different and unforgettable stories told from the purity of the nature, the hospitality from local residences, the fertility from the land, the glory of the art and culture, and the rich taste of the local foods. Thus, Bali is complex with aesthetic things as required by people in the world, such a blessing island.

After we experience the extremely wonderful sight of Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, let’s we move to other area which is also appealing us with its uniqueness. You may turn your choice into Padangbai. It is a small but well-known town in eastern Bali, in which it is dedicated for travellers who want to go across the island to the neighbouring islands like Lombok, Nusa Penida, Gili Islands, and other of the Lesser Sunda Islands using ferry.

To reach the Padangbai, all you need is finding any public transportation which go to Amlapura as soon as you reach Ngurah Rai airport. The place is located in Manggis, Karangasem, a place between Karangasem and Klungkung. It is about 30km from Denpasar, so you need an hour or less to go to that place. Situated near Candidasa the bay is by far from the bustling areas that may break its quietness. Just what the name told, it is a beautiful little bay which serves lovely and sandy beach. The atmosphere is very calm, quiter, natural, and relaxing; it is suitable for travellers who want to escape from the city crowd like in Kuta. You only need 10 until 15 minutes to walk around Padangbai. Along the road, you will meet some places to stay and eat and they are close each other.

There is a ferry terminal in the north of the Padangbai which is what so-called as the Blue Lagoon. In the Blue Lagoon, you can find 2 small shops serving meals and beers to enjoy. Padangbai does not only play a role as a ferry port; some people may do Scuba Dive here (although it is rarely used for Scuba diving). This makes Padangbai becomes a perfect place to take a break.

Some residences may call Padangbai as ‘secret beach’ as not many visitors come to enjoy the beauty of a bay on the East Coast of Bali. Otherwise, some people may call it Pantai Kecil, Bias Tegul, White Sand Beach. Whatever the name, the bay is cleverly hidden from the crowd that makes it an appropriate space to relax. The beach is totally perfect and amazing as it offers white, soft, and pure sand. That is why it is not wrong to call Padangbai as heavenly paradise due to the sight view of turquoise water and swaying palm trees by the breeze. The existence of so many warungs and restaurants chill the atmosphere out. After that, you may walk upon a hill and take a glimpse of the water that separate Bali from other neighbouring islands. What a wonderful God’s masterpiece!
